Kollel

The Rav has asked the following email be sent. Once again Reb Menachem Hirshman will be in shul tomorow morning and is raising money for a chashuva kollel for balie teshuva.Tizkeh lmitzvos, See below for more details

In our generation, we are Zocheh to see a spiritual awakening among many of our dear brothers returning to their Jewish roots and the paths of their ancestors.

When our dear brothers embark upon this journey, they are fortunate to learn in Yeshivos for beginners and Baale Teshuvah. During this time, they make great strides in Torah and Yiddishkeit.

However, this is only a starting point for them.

After they get married and begin building their own homes, these Baale Teshuvah encounter unique challenges. Due to their limited upbringing, they are missing basic foundations necessary to build homes true to Torah views and ethics. A standerd Kollel setting does not offer a means of properly filling in the gaps found in their education.

Upon the request of Gedolai Yisroel, 17 years ago, we opened a full-day program designed to meet the specific needs of these individuals.

The Kollel’s daily schedule begins with practical Halochos, followed by a Shiur in Mussar.

The day continues like an ordinary Yeshiva: Chavrusos, in-depth Gemara study and Shiurim. The Avreichem are divided into small groups, based on their levels of learning. Shiurim are designed to give over methods of understanding the Gemara and its commentaries.

In the afternoon, there are Chavrusos and Shiurim in Gemara B’keyus. Additionally, Shiurim are given on relevant topics, including Hilchos Tahara, Basar B’chalav, Shabbos and Parshas Hashavua. Special emphasis is given to lectures on the topics of Shalom Bayis and Chinuch, themes that are vital to the development of proper Jewish homes al pi haTorah.

We also have a Friday Shabbos program where each talmid learns on his own 3-4 hours doing one daf of gemara, which helps them get used to learning on their own.

Avriechim commute from afar – Kiryat Sefer, Tel Aviv, Beit Shemesh, Bietar, Givat Zev, and Yerushalayim.

Generally, an Avreich learns in Kollel for 4-6 years after which they go on, some to other Kollelim and some continue into the workplace.

This unique Kollel was held out for 16 years by one person. But now this person cannot continue with his support. This unprecedented establishment is on the verge of collapse, threatening to end our successful endeavors.

We are turning to you, dear friend, to enable our survival. Help us continue building beautiful Jewish homes, raising generations that will continue the chain of our tradition.

במקום שבעלי תשובה עומדים אפילו צדיקים גמורים אינם יכולים לעמוד

In the Kollel now are 20 talmidim and our monthly budget is about $12500

I am sending a sample of our talmidim because seeing is better than hearing

Shine

Dear Kehilla,
Shine, a new program will begin in Brooklyn this Motzei Shabbos. Shine is geared towards teenage girls from less religious and more traditional homes. It will turn their Saturday night into a Motzei Shabbos, channeling their free time in more constructive ways. The program will include a Melava Malka, activities, and learning with a mentor. Volunteers will keep the connection with the girls throughout the week as well. The program is endorsed by Rabbi Benzion Klatzko and Rabbi Dovid Goldwasser. To donate to Shine, please make checks out to Torah Umesorah and give them to the Rav

Mincha Maariv

Mincha Maariv this week will be at 5:45 (the schedule incorrectly said 5:55).

With the changing of the clock at the end of this week this will most likely be the last week of Mincha Maariv till after the winter iyh (except Sunday). However, if you are interested in having Mincha Maariv during the week after changing the clock please let us know. If there is enough interest then we will make a Minyan then.
