ב,ה רבי אליעזר אומר, "השרץ . . . ונעלם ממנו" (ראה ויקרא ה,ב)–על העלם השרץ הוא חייב, ואינו חייב על העלם המקדש. רבי עקיבה אומר, "ונעלם ממנו, והוא טמא" (שם)–על הטומאה הוא חייב, ואינו חייב על העלם המקדש. רבי ישמעאל אומר, "ונעלם ממנו . . . ונעלם ממנו" (ויקרא ה,ב-ד), שתי פעמים–לחייב על העלם הטומאה, ועל העלם המקדש.
